How to take Vinted photos that sell

By James, founder of Rackd · Updated 20 October 2026 · 4 min read

Quick answer

Shoot in daylight near a window, on a plain background, with the item flat or on a hanger. Take a clear front shot first, then the back, the brand and size label, close-ups of fabric or details, and any flaws. Vinted allows up to 20 photos, and five to eight good ones is usually plenty.

Light comes first

Daylight from a window makes colours look true and fabric look clean. Avoid the flash and yellow evening light: both change the colour, and colour is a common reason for returns. Overcast days are perfect because there are no harsh shadows.

Use a plain background

A plain wall, door, bedsheet or clean floor works. Clear away anything else in the frame. Buyers scroll fast, and a tidy photo looks like a well-cared-for item.

The shot list

  1. Front, full item. This is your cover photo, so make it the clearest one. Flat lay or on a hanger, straight and smoothed out.
  2. Back. Same set-up.
  3. Brand and size label. Close and sharp. This builds trust, and it's what Rackd reads to write your listing.
  4. Care label. It shows the material, which buyers search for.
  5. Details. Buttons, pockets, texture, print or hardware.
  6. Flaws. One clear close-up of each, with something for scale if it helps.
  7. Worn, if you're comfortable. A mirror photo shows fit better than anything. Crop out your face if you'd rather.

Quick fixes that make a big difference

How many photos?

Vinted lets you add up to 20. You don't need them all: five to eight clear photos covering the shot list above is usually enough. Add more for expensive items, so buyers can check everything before they buy.

Show the flaws

It feels like a flaw photo will put buyers off, but it does the opposite. It shows you're honest, it stops "not as described" refunds, and buyers who still go ahead are happy with what arrives.

Questions

How many photos can you put on Vinted?

Up to 20. Five to eight clear photos covering the front, back, labels, details and any flaws is usually enough.

What background is best for Vinted photos?

A plain wall, door, bedsheet or clean floor in daylight. Keep everything else out of the frame.

Should I photograph flaws on Vinted?

Yes. A clear photo of each flaw builds trust and protects you from 'not as described' refunds.

Do worn photos sell better on Vinted?

A worn or mirror photo shows fit better than a flat lay and often helps clothes sell. Crop out your face if you prefer.
