Vinted fees UK: do sellers pay anything?
For a normal sale on Vinted UK, listing and selling are free. The buyer pays Vinted's fee at checkout, on top of your item price and postage. You get the price you listed. Optional extras such as bumps and Showcase cost the seller. Fees can change, so always check Vinted's own price list.
Is selling on Vinted free?
Yes, for the standard path most people use:
- Uploading items is free. There is no listing fee.
- Selling is free. When the order completes, the money for your item goes to your Vinted Balance.
- The buyer pays the platform fee and the shipping label at checkout.
That is why people say "Vinted is free for sellers". The catch is optional paid boosts, and the fact that buyers see a higher total than your listed price because of the fee and postage.
Who pays the Vinted fee?
The buyer. When they tap "Buy now", Vinted adds a mandatory fee to the order. Vinted describes it as usually a percentage of the item or bundle price plus a small fixed amount (often around 3%–8% plus about £0.30–£0.80, including VAT). The exact figure depends on the item and the order, and it is shown in the price breakdown before they pay.
What that means for you as a seller:
- If you list a coat at £70, you still get £70 for the item when the sale completes.
- The buyer pays £70 + Vinted fee + shipping.
- You do not need to "add the fee on" to your price for a standard sale.
Rackd is independent of Vinted. We do not set or collect these fees. For the latest numbers, use Vinted's price list.
What about shipping?
On Vinted UK, the buyer usually pays for integrated shipping (Evri, InPost, DPD, Royal Mail and others) at checkout. Vinted then gives you a prepaid label or code. You pack the item and send it with that label. If you use a different label, the order can be cancelled. See our Vinted shipping guide for the step-by-step.
What sellers do pay for (optional)
- Bumps. Push a listing higher in search for a few days. Cost depends on the item price and how long you bump it (often 3 or 7 days).
- Showcase. Another paid visibility option. The fee and length are shown at checkout.
You never have to buy either. Plenty of wardrobe clear-outs sell with clear photos, an honest description and a fair price. If an item is stuck, a price drop often helps more than a bump. See our Vinted price guide.
Why buyers sometimes complain about "fees"
Buyers see three lines at checkout: your price, the Vinted fee and postage. That total can feel high on a cheap item, because the fixed part of the fee is a bigger share of a £8 top than a £70 coat. That is a buyer-side cost, not a deduction from your sale price.
Pricing tip
Price against what similar items sell for on Vinted, not against the shop ticket. List near the top of a fair range so you have room for offers. The listed price is what you receive for the item on a standard sale, so you can decide your floor without guessing at platform cuts.
