Vinted conditions explained: which one should you pick?

By James, founder of Rackd · Updated 20 October 2026 · 4 min read

Quick answer

On Vinted, New means unused with original tags or packaging, Like new means unused but without tags or packaging, Very good means worn but with only minor signs, Good means regularly worn with visible wear, and Satisfactory means well worn with clear flaws. If you're stuck between two, pick the lower one.

The conditions, in plain English

ConditionWhat it means for clothes
NewNever worn, with its original tags or packaging still on.
Like newNever worn, but the tags or packaging are gone. Tried on at home counts here.
Very goodWorn a few times. Any signs of wear are minor and don't change how it looks.
GoodWorn regularly. Some visible wear, like light bobbling or fading, but it's still perfectly wearable.
SatisfactoryWell worn, with clear signs of wear or small flaws. Still usable.

Vinted also has a "Needs repair" option, but it's only for electronics. These descriptions are our summary of Vinted's options. Check Vinted's help centre for the exact wording, because the options have changed before.

How to choose

  1. Check in daylight. Look at the underarms, cuffs, collar, hem and seat. That's where wear shows first.
  2. Look for the common flaws: bobbling, fading, stains, pulled threads, missing buttons, broken zips and stretched necklines.
  3. If you're stuck between two, pick the lower one. A buyer who gets something better than described leaves a good review. A buyer who gets something worse asks for a refund.
  4. Photograph and mention any flaw, whichever condition you pick.

Why it matters

Condition affects your price more than almost anything except brand. Buyers filter by it, and they compare your item with others in the same condition. It also protects you: Vinted can refund a buyer when an item is significantly not as described, and an honest condition plus clear photos of any flaws is your best defence.

Common questions

Worn once? That's Very good, not Like new. Like new is for unworn items without tags.

Washed but never worn? Like new.

Small mark you can remove? Remove it before you list. If you can't, mention it and photograph it.
